Yogurt Drink (lhassi)

During the hot summer  months in India, plain yogurt-based and mint-flavored lhassi are nutritious, restorative drinks.

Basic Yogurt Drink (Lhassi)

Serves 6

You can add mango juice and substitute salt with sugar to make delicious mango lhassi.

2 cups plain yogurt
5 cups water
1 teaspoon roasted ground cumin
¼ cup fresh  mint leaves, chopped fine (optional)
¼  teaspoon ground black peppercorn
Salt to taste

In a food processor, puree the yogurt, 5 cups water, cumin, pepper, and salt for 2 minutes.

Serve in medium glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
